When I sold my final bouquet of the season in early October, you’d think everything would suddenly go quiet. The last flowers cut, the buckets cleaned, the stand packed away. A neat little “The End” moment.

As much as I love flower season, now that it’s winding down, I’ve been reflecting on what I miss and what I’m glad to leave behind until next year.

It’s hard to believe another flower season has come and gone. My year of growing kicked off in mid-March and ran right through until the start of October - and what a whirlwind it was! Looking back, I feel such a mix of pride, exhaustion, and huge gratitude.

This year at Cicely Flowers, my little flower stand in Bradford on Avon has been such a joy — a place to meet you, share seasonal blooms, and see smiles as people pick up flowers for their homes, gifts, or special occasions.

There’s something about October flowers that feels magical — rich, warm, and full of life, even as the days grow shorter. This time of year, the flower plot at Cicely Flowers bursts with deep autumn tones: golden sunflowers, fiery dahlias, soft chrysanthemums, and airy cosmos, all swaying together in the autumn light.
