How Much Should You Budget For Wedding Flowers In Wiltshire, Somerset & Bath

wedding flowers grown in Bradford on Avon

One of the very first questions I’m asked is: “How much do wedding flowers actually cost?”

If you’re getting married in Wiltshire, Somerset or Bath, you’ve probably already noticed that wedding flower budgets can feel confusing. You’ll see everything from £100 DIY flower buckets right through to large-scale floral installations - and it can be hard to work out what’s realistic for you.

I run Cicely Flowers on my own, growing and arranging seasonal flowers for lots of small, thoughtful weddings across this area. This post is here to give you an honest, down-to-earth guide to what couples usually budget for wedding flowers locally - and how to make the most of that budget.

What Is the Average Cost of Wedding Flowers in the UK?

You’ll often see figures online suggesting couples spend 8–12% of their total wedding budget on flowers, sometimes quoting £2,000–£3,500 or more. In reality, many of the couples I work with in Wiltshire, Somerset and Bath spend under £1,500 on their wedding flowers - especially for smaller weddings, registry office ceremonies, micro-weddings and relaxed countryside celebrations.

There is no single ‘right’ number. The most important thing is choosing flowers that suit the scale and style of your day.

Two Different Ways to Approach Wedding Flowers

One of the biggest differences in flower budgets comes down to how involved you want to be.

DIY Flower Buckets (Hands-On & Budget-Friendly)

DIY flower buckets are a lovely option if:

  • you’re having a small wedding

  • you enjoy arranging flowers yourself

  • you want something relaxed and informal

  • you’re happy to do some flower prep the day before

DIY Flower Buckets are £100 each. Each bucket contains a generous mix of seasonal, locally grown flowers - usually enough to create:

  • 1 bridal bouquet or

  • several small arrangements or jam jars

Typical DIY bucket spends:

  • Very small wedding / elopement: 3 flower buckets (£300) + foliage (£30)

  • Small wedding (20–40 guests): 4-6 flower buckets (£400–£600) + foliage

  • Larger DIY wedding: 7-9 flower buckets (£700–£900)

DIY buckets are great value, but they don’t include design time, delivery, setup or styling - you’re paying for beautiful flowers and the freedom to create with them yourself.

Bespoke Wedding Flowers (Designed & Taken Care Of for You)

If you’d rather hand things over and enjoy your day knowing the flowers are sorted, bespoke wedding flowers might be a better fit.

Here’s a guide to my individual flower prices:

  • Bridal bouquet: £160

  • Bridesmaid / Maid of Honour bouquet: £90

  • Flower crown: £45

  • Flower girl posy: £30

  • Buttonhole: £20

  • Corsage: £20

These prices reflect seasonal flowers, careful colour choices, professional conditioning and time spent designing flowers that last beautifully throughout the day.

What Does a £1,000–£1,500 Wedding Flower Budget Look Like?

This is the most common budget range I work within.

A typical £1,200-£1,500 spend might include:

  • bridal bouquet

  • 2-4 bridesmaid bouquets or flower crowns

  • buttonholes and corsages

  • DIY flower buckets for you to create simple table flowers for a small reception

I focus on personal flowers and small-scale designs that suit intimate weddings, so your budget goes directly into flowers you’ll really notice and use throughout the day.

What Affects the Cost of Wedding Flowers?

A few things that make the biggest difference:

  • Seasonality - British seasonal flowers offer the best value

  • Number of people in your wedding party

  • Guest numbers & table count

How to Get the Most From Your Wedding Flower Budget

If you want your flowers to feel generous without overspending:

  • Focus on a few key designs rather than lots of small ones

  • Trust me to choose seasonal flowers

  • Be flexible with colour tones rather than exact flower varieties

I’m always very open and honest about what I can offer. I specialise in smaller weddings and personal flowers, made carefully and thoughtfully. If you’re hoping for lots of flowers for a very low budget, I may not be the right florist - but if you value seasonal flowers, a relaxed process and realistic expectations, we’re likely to be a good fit.

Is a Local FLOWER GROWER / Wedding Florist Worth It?

Working with a local flower grower - wedding florist in Wiltshire, Somerset or Bath means:

  • someone who understands the practicalities of small, relaxed weddings

  • realistic setup times

  • flowers designed for the local landscape and seasons

It also means your flowers are created by someone who is fully invested in your wedding - not managing several large events at once.

So, How Much Should You Budget?

As a realistic guide:

  • DIY flower weddings: from £300-£900

  • Bespoke wedding flowers: most couples spend £1,000-£1,500

If you’re planning a smaller wedding and love natural, seasonal flowers, that budget can go a surprisingly long way.
